One man's trash...

is another persons treasure....

"Hello! I'm a 1965 Singer sewing machine that works like the day I was born!"

This was found on the curb Sunday evening just mere hours before we got a 2'' torrential downpour. It was around 8pm on Sunday when I finally got the urge to do my weeks worth of grocery shopping and on my way back I spotted the cabinet. I knew it was a sewing machine cabinet as I drove by and figured it would make a nice end table if there was nothing inside. Image my surprise when I went to lift it out of a bunch of other junk and it was heavy! Inside I found the manuals and original attachment box with all attachments! I spent this evening getting it cleaned up. This weekend I'll remove it from the cabinet and have it serviced. Even though I love my Pfaff, it will be nice to have a second machine around if friends want to come over and sew. It couldn't have found a better home!

  1. Hi, just found your blog (somehow--I can never figure out where I clicked over from!) I LOVE that sewing machine--it looks just like my mom's. I can't believe someone would just throw something like that away. You rescued it!

  2. What a great find! I can't believe somebody would just throw it away--but lucky you! Glad to hear somebody else brings home trash (my husband always gives me a hard time--but my closet is filled with nice hangers that somebody was sending to the landfill!).

  5. Oh how lovely! I have a Singer from the 1950's that I found at a thrift store for around $35, that works better than my new one. Amazing :)

  11. Wow, nice find. It is hard to find a machine that is as heavy as the older machines. They are made with all metal gears while the newer models are mostly plastic and they wear out or break easily.

Hang on to it! It will probably last forever.
