The ants go marching one by one hurrah, hurrah!

Fresh leaf lettuce! First harvest last night with many more to come!

Snow peas reaching for the fence.

What's with it with ants and peonies? I picked up a couple plants at a local plant sale, and now I need to figure out where I am going to put them.

With all the rain we have been getting I have gotten behind in planting. Tonight I'll get the peppers (yuck) and eggplant (yum) in the garden and do some weeding. Just another crazy Friday night in the Huber household!

  1. I was told not to get rid of the ants, that they somehow help the flowers bloom. They are sugar ants and the plant produces sugar. Ant sugar!!! LOL

I am trying to grow peonies here in S. Oregon, but spring just won't come! Snow all day today, nothing sticking, but snow??

  2. Excellent! I love peonies, by the way. There are about a million of them about to burst down the street from me, I can't wait to see them.

  3. Lee, the ants pollinate the peonies, so you won't ever get rid of them.

Probably just plant them away from the house and you'll be ok.

  4. just make sure to shake off the ants before you bring them in. lettuce from the garden is the best. it's such fun to grow your own food. i have a big front yard full of food
